Northwest African American Museum
In 2008, the Northwest African American Museum held its inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award celebration at the Paramount Theater. For this special evening Gigantic Planet created a program that celebrated the grand opening of NAAM and told its story through the journey and legacy of its honoree, Quincy Jones.
Gigantic Planet developed a multi-layered story in three chapters weaving together Quincy's far-reaching cultural impact and the Museum's mission of honoring the past while articulating a hopeful future. We combined multimedia, video, spoken word and performance into a theatrical program that represented the history, aesthetic and cultural movements of the past century and paralleled NAAM with the development, life and legacy of Quincy Jones.
